Sharks Tooth

Sharks Tooth a hand-cut, double layered painting. It’s palette and angles are in part influenced by the deep blue reflective architecture of the towering glass office buildings of modern cities, but the palette is open, inclusive and optimistic with colors that are bright and celebratory. Inspired in part by handmade textiles from America, Africa and Asia, the painting embraces a geometry that is less concerned with mathematical perfection, but rather comes together in undulating lines of pattern, and precariously stacked shapes that are teasing and playful.

Commissioned by Kinzelman Art Consulting for Trammell Crow at 500 West 2nd Street in Austin. 120” x 90”, acrylic and canvas, 2018.
